Intro
Hello,
I would like to spread the word on competitive shooting, both High School and NRA sanctioned competitions, also I'm hoping to take this subject I love more than anything and tie it into economics for a class I'm taking.
First of all I would like to start by saying that I am a young marksmen currently ranked through the NRA. I think that in today's society trust and discipline are missing, but are in great demand. One thing I've learned through shooting with others, is that you have to learn to trust the person shooting next to you and everyone else on the firing line. Before you can trust your fellow marksmen you must first develop and show great discipline for the sport. Without discipline this sport would fall apart because trust would be lost between both the coach (if your on a team) and your fellow marksmen, or just between you and the other marksmen.
But there are many truly wonderful things about this sport. Wherever you may go to shoot the people you meet are some of the nicest you will ever meet. Most competitive marksmen are willing to give you advice and even share equipment if something happens and you forget something. Also this sport is open to both men and women on the same teams or as individuals. This is something you can do for the rest of your life, there is no age limit. But the key to this sport is to have a great time, if you can't enjoy shooting, joke with other marksmen or take a joke well then my advice is that this sport isn't for you.
Yes this is a competition, but the winning and loosing doesn't mean much in the end, what does are the skills and friends you make after each and every match. This sport isn't all "ok lets pull the trigger and hit the target on the paper," this sport is a mental and physical game, that will play on both your weaknesses and strengths.
Ok I think I've explained my views on this sport and would like to hear your own opinion if you are a fellow marksmen or questions if you think this sport's interesting and want to know more about it. For those of you asking questions I would like to ask that you go to my guestbook found under related pages on the side bar. This is just so we don't end up with repeated questions. Please note that your questions may be written on my other page, but will be answered daily on this main page.
